EMINENT AFRICAN THEOLOGIANS AND SENIOR CHURCH LEADERS PARTICIPATE IN A SYMPOSIUM ON COMPLEXITIES OF THEOLOGIES OF WEALTH AND PROSPERITY

The All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC) through its Theology, Interfaith Relations and Ecclesial Leadership, Development Department organized a Symposium on addressing misleading theologies under the theme “Complexities of Theologies of Wealth and Prosperity”. The symposium takes place in Nairobi-Kenya from November 23-27 at the Desmond Tutu Conference Centre. A total of 100 people attended this symposium from all over Africa, and I thank God for accepting me to be among them. May all those who facilitated my participation receive here my very warm thanks!

The objective of the Symposium is to look in to ways of how to address positively the complexities of theologies of wealth and prosperity in Africa. Indeed, it has been noticed with concern the emergence and surge in theologies that could be classified as misleading on the continent of Africa. Such misleading theologies undermine the sovereignty of Christ, fundamental biblical doctrine and sound theological ethos, but eventually at the same time exploit and violate the God-given dignity of vulnerable Christians. It has been observed with sadness the countless people adversely affected by these harmful beliefs and practices induced and sustained by misleading theologies. Therefore, AACC is committed to promote proper theology of wealth and prosperity that is contextual and relevant to the life of people in the African context.
