The General Synod of the Anglican Church of Rwanda (EAR) was held at EAR Kigali Diocese on December 10, 2021 under the chairmanship of the Archbishop, Most Rev. Dr. Laurent MBANDA, and made the following decisions:
THE GENERAL SYNOD OF EAR APPROVED THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A NEW DIOCESE OF NYARUGURU AND THE EXTENSION OF THE MANDATE OF MOST. REV. DR. LAURENT MBANDA
The General Synod approved the establishment of a new Diocese of Nyaruguru (Nyaruguru District, Southern Province). The Synod also decided that the official inaugural ceremony of the new Diocese would be held on Sunday, August 28, 2022. At the same time, there would be an enthronement of the First Bishop of Nyaruguru Diocese.
The Synod of the Anglican Church of Rwanda (EAR) approved also the decision of the Extraordinary Meeting of the Bishops of the Anglican Church of Rwanda (EAR), held in Kigali Diocese (St. Etienne Cathedral) on August 24, 2021, extending the mandate of Most. Rev. Dr. Laurent MBANDA as Archbishop. Another term of three years and four months (3.4) was added. It will run from June 25, 2023 to Sunday, October 25, 2026.
